Good Bye Johnny
by Keith Olive

Pain, anguish
Struggle and strife,
Most would call it
Just another day in life.

But today that is not true
It is not the same,
For we lost a good man
And Johnny was his name.

The battle waged on
For what seemed to be years,
And today it is over
So in come the tears.

It is a bittersweet day
But we all surely know,
He is at a place
That he needed to go.

In Heaven he sits
And he will no longer suffer
But that fact alone
Offers a very small buffer.

In our hearts
Fond thoughts we shall keep
But as for today
We all choose to weep.

The Sunfire's outside
Means Johnny is here,
Let's go inside
And partake in some cheer.

Life goes on
We all know that to be true,
But Johnny's passing on
Is still hard to chew.

We do not understand
Why life seems so unfair,
And sometimes it feels
Like God does not care.

I am not sure
But this must be a test,
Because why would he take Johnny
But leave some of the rest.

My mortality comes forth
As I think of my friend,
And realize that my life ride
Will one day end.

I only hope
As my last breath passes,
I am as tough as Johnny
In takin' names and kickin' Asses.
